I discovered the power of story in the hospital room of my oldest daughter who had been diagnosed with pediatric leukemia at age 2. After growing weary of streaming princess movies, we stumbled into reading aloud and listening to audiobooks to pass the time. This unexpected hardship produced a routine of reading classic literature, which has become a treasured family habit. These stories became not only a pastime but also a source of hope in our trial. Through classic literature, we have grown in confidence in the redemptive story of God's overarching narrative, and grown in courage to perform each of our roles with excellence.

She is now a healthy 21-year-old junior at Texas A&M, pursuing law school with a passion to advocate for rehabilitative justice. My second daughter joined her at A&M in Fall 2026. My youngest is a high school freshman.

And I? As a capstone to raising three remarkable humans, I am pursuing my own Master's in Marketing at Texas A&M, Class of 2027. My oldest daughter and I will dunk our Aggie Rings together — a full-circle celebration of the redeemed story I desperately prayed for in that hospital room so long ago.
